It is no surprise to anyone who reads this blog on a regular basis that I am pleased that Barack Obama defeated John McCain in Tuesday’s election. The win was historic, invigorating the nation and bringing an entirely new generation into the political process. It is important to note that not only was the right choice made, but that a massive bullet was dodged in the process. We kept Sarah Palin out of the White House.
This woman has haunted my nightmares ever since she was announced as the Vice Presidential candidate on the Republican ticket. The video above confirms every assertion I had about her. She is a vain, childish, inexperienced imbecile. This news comes from the McCain campaign, funneled through Fox News. In other words, this comes from HER people. To summarize:
-She did not know whether Africa was a country or a continent.
-She didn’t know which countries were in NAFTA.
-She refused to prepare for important interviews which eventually exposed her stupidity.
-She had a penchant for temper tantrums towards McCain staffers.
-She was barely, if at all, vetted by McCain.
-She had almost no grasp of basic civics or government structure.
-She had to ask whether or not South Africa was a country or just a region of Africa
-She had no clue what American exceptionalism was.
-She used her candidacy as an excuse to go on a shopping spree, which infamously ran up a bill of over $150,000.
The defeat of McCain/Palin wasn’t just the defeat of a pair of politicians. It was the defeat of pure cynicism. Palin wasn’t selected for her smarts, her savvy or her experience. She was selected because McCain cynically thought that disenfranchised Clinton supporters would like her because of her similar reproductive organs. They thought “real” Americans would like her because of her folksy charm. That men would like her because she was “hot”. Palin is a symbol of the absolute worst elements of politics, and the McCain camp just threw her under one helluva bus.
May she rest in peace.
