I think we’re a few days away from having Sarah Palin rallies turn into full fledged Klan meetings. It’s nice after watching this video to rewind to last night’s debate when McCain was asked about the people at his rallies. He didn’t condemn them, but rather said they were the most dedicated, most patriotic Americans.
Scary stuff people.
I saw this clip earlier today – its very one sided – but at the same time, does the ‘other side’ (I guess, our side) display the same level of absurdity and we are just blind to see it? I don’t think it does but I could be wrong and biased.
Its one thing to be interviewing random people in line to see McCain – its another to personally hand the mic to one of the kooks (or a number of them) at a rally.

One of the troubling parts in this clip for me is the crowds vehement response to McCain’s decency and ‘repudiation’ toward Obama. I do commend McCain for taking the mic away and correcting these nutsos – but how in the world did these people even get the mic to begin with.
Honestly – I feel bad for McCain – he ISNT a bad man but unfortunately he got the republican ticket and as a result – hes paired with the right – and the righteous =( Most of these people are beyond any type of mental growth, if they still believe Barack Hussein Obama is a goddamned terrorist then I dont think there is anything we can do at this point to change their minds. We do need to remember that for every one of these kooks – there are an equal number of level headed republicans out there (why they’re still republicans is beyond me – but thats beside the point).

Shaun I agree and there’s no doubt there are fringe elements at both McCain/Palin rallies as well as Obama/Biden rallies. My displeasure with the McCain/Palin rallies is the level of tastelessness and threats of violence that simply hasn’t been an element of Obama rallies. McCain/Palin have created this monster by equating Obama with a “pal” of terrorists.
It just seems as if more and more of these videos are coming out. It’s not 1 or 2 people. It’s what happens when simple minded people are exposed to lies and misleading attacks. It’s just unnecessary.
Shaun… I agree with you that this stuff is probably happening on both sides, but the level of ‘hate’ that is being displayed from McCain, Palin, and SOME of his supports disguised as ‘being American’ is so over the line. McCain and Palin are fanning the flames here with their ‘words’.
For instance, McCain taking the mic away was commendable for about 2 seconds… listen to what he actually said in response to the woman that said ‘I don’t trust Obama…He’s an Arab.’ He said, “No, ma’am, he’s a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with.”… implying Arabs are not decent and untrustworthy. Not to mention you can be a citizen of the US and Arab. McCain also said ‘he a family man and citizen’. No McCain, he’s an American, that was born in this country just like you, me, and the woman you took the mic from.
I have zero sympathy for him… he choose to take his campaign this route. It was a calculated decision. If he was truly outrage by this type of stuff, simply call for it to stop, starting with his running mate, but the self-described ‘Gook Hater’ won’t do that (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/hongop.shtml – and although this happened 8 years ago, you see the pattern here)…
Lastly, I’m waiting for the denounce this gem:
To quote: “I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected,” she said. “It was just food to me. It didn’t mean anything else.”

Waiting… waiting…. I won’t hold my breath…
The level of hatred, fear and divisiveness is indeed scary. It really makes me fear how many assassination attempts will be made on Obama throughout his potential preseidency. Someone pointed me to this one the other day:

Fringe elements maybe. But agreed that the McCain/Palin ticket, with Palin as the whip is certainly doing what it can to encourage these types of ridiculous views. As it turns out, the McCain platform seems to be trying to drive votes by spreading fear and doubt – much like the Bush administration McCain tries so hard to separate himself from.
